CDM POLICY STATEMENT

  1. Introduction
    Bourne Steel Limited (BSL) are dedicated to the compliance to these regulations and have adapted, and shall continue to adapt, its management systems to incorporate clauses of the said regulations.

  2. Management System

    2.1 BSL operate an accredited quality management system to BS EN ISO 9001:1994 and through this we are able to control our design, manufacture and installation of structural steel frames

    2.2 Under Regulation 13 we carry out designers risk assessment (if applicable) and forward the information to the planning supervisor for inclusion in the Health and Safety plan.

    2.3 Under Regulation 19 we will co-operate fully with the principal contractor in the development of the safety file during the construction of each project. Also through our own site management system we shall ensure compliance to the safety plan for both direct and subcontract labour.

  3. Safety Policy
    Bourne Steel's Safety Policy has been formulated around current health and safety regulations and addresses all company activities. This policy is endorsed by the Managing Director and defines responsibilities for all employees, these including site activities, are audited by our Independent Safety Advisor and reports directly to the company safety officer. Results from these audits are acted upon with immediate effect to ensure both safe place and system of work.

  4. Operation and Maintenance
    On completion of each project the operation and maintenance file is produced which includes:

    a. Bill of materials
    b. Suppliers list
    c. Technical data sheets of materials used
    d. COSHH assessments of products used
    e. 'As built' drawings
    f. Operating instructions
    g. Maintenance schedule
    h. Maintenance instructions
    i. Method statements
    j. Task specific risk assessments

    This list is flexible and can cater for client specific information.
